Kawah Putih is situated on the top of Mount Patuha in South Bandung. The color of the crater is apple green because it contains sulfur.
It is reacheable by car or public transportation. If we go by car we can go up to the second parking area near the crater. If we go by bus, the bus has to stop at the first parking area near the gate. Then, we continue by a mini bus to the second parking area. Around the second parking area, there are many food stalls. They serve instant noodles, mie kocok, mie bakso (meat ball), grilled corn, soft drink, and traditional drinks such as Bajigur and Bandrek.
From the second parking area, people have to walk and go down to the crater. Many vendors sell local strawberry. Many strawberry plantation on the way to Kawah Putih. People can pick the fruits from the bush by themselves.
A lot of people go to Tangkuban Perahu or Lembang when they visit Bandung, capital of West Java. I think Kawah Putih or the White Crater is a better choice, this is one of the must do if you are visiting Bandung beside the Saung Ujo performance. The downside is the location which is about one hour (depending on traffic) from Bandung. The mountains, the rice fields, the crater is awesome! The drive to Kawah Putih needs upgrading somehow its worth the scenery on top of Gunung Patuha. There are lots of fresh juices available when you get there and they even have chocolate fountain at the shops. Entrance ticket is very cheap (under $3,00) so you would not mind to spend more if you have to take a taxi going there from Bandung So enjoy the vacation and make it the greatest vacation you ever have.
